10 Maha Kumbh Devotees Killed In Prayagraj Highway Accident

Ten people approximately, died after their Bolero car struck a bus on the Mirzapur-Prayagraj route. The individuals were all Chhattisgarh devotees traveling to Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, for the Maha Kumbh Mela. Nineteen other people were hurt in the twin crash.

The devotees who died in the vehicle belonged to the Korba of Chhattisgarh. They were traveling to the Sangam to take a sacred plunge at the Kumbh. At the time of the disaster, pilgrims from Rajgarh, Madhya Pradesh, were also in the vehicle.

After learning about the road accident in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ordered officials to arrive on the scene and begin rescue efforts as soon as possible.

Additionally, the Chief Minister ordered that the injured be treated properly. This is not the first time that devotees of Maha Kumbh have been involved in such accidents.

Seven Andhra Pradesh residents lost their lives on Tuesday when their tempo traveller collided with a vehicle on a highway in the Jabalpur area of Madhya Pradesh while they were returning from the Maha Kumbh.

In another incident, few Agra residents were returning from the Kumbh on Monday when their automobile struck a truck, killing one couple and injuring four others. The truck was seized, and the driver was taken into custody, according to Station House Officer Rudra Pratap Singh.

A man from Odisha’s Rourkela died and six others were injured when a car carrying them from the Maha Kumbh to their home collided with a bus in Uttar Pradesh’s Sonbhadra on Monday, police said.

On January 13, the Maha Kumbh, the biggest religious assembly in the world, got underway. It will continue till the day of Maha Shivaratri, which is February 26.

The government claims that more than 92 lakh devotees swam until 6 p.m. on Friday alone, bringing the total number of visitors to Maha Kumbh to almost 50 crore (until Friday).
