A brawl broke out in parliament on Thursday, between the opposition party and ruling party members. Two BJP MPs, Pratap Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput, were hurt and taken to the hospital. They suffered head injuries. The injured MPs were admitted to the ICU of Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital.
Pratap Sarangi aged 69, suffered a deep cut on his forehead and left temple that required stitches, while Rajput from Uttar Pradesh fainted after sustaining a head injury. Doctors are trying to stabilize their conditions with Sarangi also suffering from high blood pressure and extreme anxiety.
The BJP member Nishikant Dubey has accused Rahul Gandhi of pushing Pratap Sarangi saying “Are you not ashamed Rahul, you are resorting to unruly behavior. You pushed an old man” but Gandhi denied the accusations. Gandhi said he was trying to enter the parliament when BJP MPs stopped him, pushed and threatened him.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi called Pratap Sarangi to inquire about hai health later union ministers Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Pralhad Joshi visited Sarangi at the hospital to inquire about his health. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Rijiju said “Parliament is not a place to show physical strength. It is not a wrestling ring, appropriate action will be taken after examining sarangi’s injuries.
Congress met with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla submitted a complaint letter written by Congress President Kharge claimed that he was pushed by BJP MPs which caused him to stumble to the ground hitting his knees, which has already undergone a surgery. He demanded an inquiry claiming it’s was not just him who got attacked all the opposition went through this.
