New Delhi: In a major crackdown against illegal liquor trade, the Anti-Narcotics Cell of the Central District police apprehended two bootleggers and recovered 516 quarters of illicit liquor in a targeted operation conducted in the Nabi Karim area.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Monu alias Pawan (32) and Rakesh alias Guddu (30), both residents of Tel Mill Gali in Ram Nagar, Nabi Karim, Delhi. Acting on reliable intelligence inputs, a dedicated team was swiftly constituted to act on the tip-off and prevent the illegal distribution of liquor in the area.

The accused were caught red-handed while allegedly preparing for the illegal distribution of the alcohol.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that one of the accused, Rakesh alias Guddu, is a habitual offender with a notorious history. He has previously been involved in 22 criminal cases and is a listed history-sheeter (BC) at Police Station Nabi Karim. His record includes previous cases related to bootlegging and other offences.

The arrested individuals have been booked under relevant provisions of the Delhi Excise Act. The police said that such targeted drives will continue as part of their effort to clamp down on the sale and supply of illicit liquor in Delhi, particularly in vulnerable localities.

A senior officer from the Anti-Narcotics Cell stated, “This action is part of our focused drive to curb bootlegging and the illegal liquor trade in Central Delhi. Local and field intelligence played a vital role in tracking the accused. We are committed to taking strict action against habitual offenders and disrupting the illegal liquor network.”

The Central District police have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity related to narcotics or illicit liquor to the nearest police station or helpline, assuring strict confidentiality for informants.
