In a daring rescue operation the Indian Embassy in Laos has successfully freed 67 Indians who were trafficked into cyber-scam centers in the Bokeo province of Laos.

The victims were cheated, lured with the promises of employment and forced into trafficking racket, facing abuse and criminal intimidation by the captors.

The Indian Embassy in collaboration with Laos authorities, launched a swift and decisive operation to rescue the trafficked citizens from the Golden triangle special economic zone(GTSEZ) in Laos.

The Embassy’s officials worked closely with Lao authorities to facilitate the victims departure, completing necessary procedures and paperwork.

Ambassador Prashant Aggrawal met with the individuals, discussing the challenges they faced, offering them support and assurance for their safe return to India.

The Embassy has arranged for the trafficking victim’s transportation, accomodation, an food, and is currently working with Lao authorities to complete their exit formalities.

This rescue operation is part of Indian Embassy’s efforts to combat human trafficking in Laos, which has so far rescued 924 Indians from trafficking rings, with 857 already returned home safely.

The Embassy has issued warning for Indian citizens to be aware of dangers of accepting jobs in Thailand that may lead to trafficking into cyber-scam centres in Laos.

The Indian Embassy has expressed their gratitude to Laos authorities for their exceptional help and cooperation and has requested action to be taken against those who are responsible for the trafficking.
