Tragedy struck during the premiere of Pushpa 2 at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad, as a 9-year-old boy, Sri Tej, was severely injured in a stampede and has now been declared brain dead. The incident occurred on December 4, 2024, when a massive crowd gathered at the theatre, leading to chaos and asphyxiation.
Sri Tej, who was critically injured in the stampede, was rushed to KIMS Cuddles Hospital, where he was put on ventilator support. Despite intensive medical care, the young boy’s neurological condition showed no signs of improvement, and he was declared brain dead.
The stampede resulted in the death of a 35-year-old woman, Revathi, and injured several others, including Sri Tej’s mother. The police have arrested three individuals, including the owner and manager of Sandhya Theatre, for negligence in implementing proper security measures.
Actor Allu Arjun, the star of Pushpa 2, has expressed his concern for Sri Tej’s family and has offered to bear the medical expenses.
