New Delhi: In a major crackdown on illegal arms trafficking, the Anti Gangs Squad (AGS) of the Crime Branch has apprehended a notorious history-sheeter identified as Gajender alias Tinnu, aged 32, hailing from Village Dichao Kalan, Najafgarh. During the arrest, the police recovered two illegal firearms along with six live cartridges of different bores.

The accused, a well-known figure in Delhi’s criminal underworld, has an extensive criminal history with involvement in 38 criminal cases, including robbery, car-jacking, abduction, and arms-related offences. He is listed as a history-sheeter at Baba Haridas Nagar Police Station.

Operation and Arrest

The arrest followed weeks of surveillance and intelligence-gathering by a dedicated team of the AGS, tasked with tracking the movements of gang members and arms suppliers.

Under the leadership of Inspector Gulshan Yadav and close supervision of ACP Bhagwati Prasad, the team deployed technical surveillance and human intelligence sources across Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana.

On July 4, 2025, a significant breakthrough came when ASI Mahesh and Head Constable Paramjeet received specific input about Gajender’s location. A trap was swiftly laid near Sai Baba Mandir in Najafgarh. After a brief chase and resistance, Gajender was apprehended.

Upon his search, police recovered one sophisticated 0.32 bore pistol with a magazine loaded with five live cartridges from his possession. Additionally, a single-shot pistol along with another live cartridge was recovered from his bag.

A case has been registered under FIR No. 168/2025 dated July 5, 2025, at the Crime Branch Police Station under relevant sections of the Arms Act (25/54/59).

Career of Crime

Gajender’s criminal journey reportedly began in his early youth. After the demise of his father, he and his mother moved to Roshanpura, New Delhi. Lacking family guidance and driven by alcohol dependency, he fell into bad company.

Initially involved in petty thefts and snatching cases, he later associated with infamous chain snatchers like Sanjay Bihari and Pankaj.

His criminal activities escalated over the years. In 2020, he was arrested for a high-profile abduction-for-extortion case registered at PS Mundka. In that incident, he abducted a property dealer at gunpoint in a Toyota Fortuner and demanded ₹50 lakh ransom from the victim’s family.

After serving jail time, he shifted focus to illegal arms supply, emerging as a key arms peddler for various gangs in the Delhi-NCR region.

Prior Criminal Record

Gajender’s record spans across several police stations and jurisdictions, revealing a deep-rooted involvement in organized crime. A few of his notable past cases include:

  • Arms Act Violations: PS Baba Haridas Nagar, FIR No. 69/2021

  • Snatching and Theft: Numerous cases dating back to 2010 across Najafgarh, Dwarka, Paschim Vihar, Mehrauli, and Nangloi
