July 27, 2025 — As the rhythm of dhol beats echoes through Dilli Haat, Pitampura, and colourful jhoolas sway in sync with the breeze, Teej Mahotsav 2025 paints the perfect picture of monsoon festivity. Organised by Delhi Tourism, the three-day extravaganza held from July 25 to 27 brought together music, tradition, and community in an unforgettable celebration of Hariyali Teej.

The festival opened with folk music and traditional performances, creating an instant buzz among visitors. Reflecting this year’s theme—“Culture, Colour and Celebration”—the event turned Dilli Haat into a vibrant display of India’s rich heritage. From handcrafted décor to food stalls serving monsoon favourites, every corner of the mela offered a sensory treat.

Day One Delight: CM and Celebrity Appearances

The atmosphere reached a crescendo on Day One when Delhi’s Chief Minister Rekha Gupta made a surprise appearance. The crowd cheered as popular Punjabi singer Jasbir Jassi took the stage and delivered a soulful live performance. The Chief Minister was seen enjoying the music and mingling with the audience, adding to the communal spirit.

“This was the highlight for me,” said Loveleen Bala, a Rajasthani visitor. “Teej is an emotional celebration for us. Watching Jassi perform and seeing our CM among the people felt truly festive.”

Teej’s Essence: A Celebration of Womanhood

Hariyali Teej is traditionally celebrated by women across northern India, especially in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar. Symbolising marital bliss and the onset of the monsoon season, the festival holds deep cultural importance. At Dilli Haat, the essence of Teej was on full display.

Dressed in green sarees, salwar suits, and lehengas, women added a living vibrance to the event. Stalls offering mehendi designs, glass bangles, oxidised jewellery, and traditional attire stayed busy through the day. Dance performances and folk music brought the energy to life.

“This fair brings back memories,” shared Shivani Singh, a lifestyle influencer. “The atmosphere is so alive—people are smiling, singing, shopping. You can feel the tradition in the air.”

Generations Bond Over Festive Fun

The event was a hit not just with families, but also with students and visitors from abroad. Ananya, a 17-year-old student, brought her childhood friend Vanya to the mela. “My mother loves Teej and insisted we visit. I didn’t expect to enjoy it so much, but it was such a fun experience,” she said, beaming.

Swati Gupta, a food entrepreneur visiting from Sydney, expressed her joy at witnessing traditional Indian celebrations in full swing. “Even though I live abroad, our culture lives within us. Being here makes me feel connected to my roots,” she said.

Traditional Art Meets Modern Celebration

From Rajasthani mirror work to Madhubani art, handicraft stalls drew the attention of both collectors and casual visitors. Children were seen enjoying puppet shows, camel rides, and games, while elders relaxed in shaded seating areas, sharing stories of their own childhood Teej celebrations.

The food court was a major attraction, serving up ghewar, jaljeera, pakoras, and other Teej staples. Long queues formed at chaat stalls and kulfi carts, as the aroma of traditional dishes filled the air.

Easy Access, Massive Turnout

Located just a short walk from the Netaji Subhash Place Metro Station (connected via the Red and Pink Lines), the venue remained crowded throughout the festival’s 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. schedule. Volunteers and security staff ensured smooth movement, while shaded tents and water stations helped attendees beat the monsoon humidity.

Teej in the City: A Living Tradition

The Teej Mahotsav 2025 was more than just a celebration—it was a living expression of Indian heritage. Whether it was the rhythm of folk drums, the joy of swinging under open skies, or the smile of a child watching a puppet dance, every moment echoed the beauty of tradition meeting modern life.

As the fair wrapped up on July 27, the message was clear: in a fast-changing world, festivals like Teej remain a heartwarming reminder of our roots—and the joy of celebrating them together.
