Civil Lines Shock: Woman’s Drink Allegedly Spiked, Assaulted by Four
A horrifying case of sexual assault has emerged from Delhi’s Civil Lines area, where a 24-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped by four men after her drink was spiked at a party. According to the police, the incident took place on Sunday night when the woman, who works at a Gurugram-based firm, was invited to a gathering by a male friend.
Police sources revealed that the victim received a call from her friend, who asked her to join a party at a house near Under Hill Road. Upon arrival, she found her friend, another acquaintance, and two unknown men at the venue. The group reportedly consumed alcohol together late into the night.
During the party, the woman claimed her drink was spiked, leaving her in a semi-conscious state. In her complaint, she alleged that the four men then took her to the washroom, where they raped her.
Violence and Threats Followed the Assault
According to investigators, the survivor told police that she was beaten by the accused during the attack. The men also allegedly filmed the assault and threatened to post the video on social media if she reported the incident.
After the assault, the suspects reportedly dropped her near her residence before fleeing. The victim immediately contacted the police, and a woman officer was dispatched to assist her. She was taken for a medical examination, and her parents were informed. Counselling support was also provided.
Police Investigation Underway, Accused on the Run
A case of gang rape has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. When police teams visited the house where the party was held, the accused were missing. Multiple search operations have been launched to track down the suspects.
A senior police officer stated, “Our teams are actively pursuing leads to apprehend the accused. We are collecting digital evidence and speaking to potential witnesses.”
Another Sexual Assault Case in Mundka
In a separate case reported in Delhi’s Mundka area, a 32-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a man who had promised to help her find a job. Police said the woman had recently left her husband and children in Bengaluru due to domestic abuse.
During her journey to Delhi, she met the accused on a train. He reportedly offered to help her with accommodation and employment. Following this, he assisted her in renting a house in Mundka.
However, on Sunday night, the man allegedly entered her rented room and raped her. Once he left, she approached the police and lodged a complaint.
Public Outrage Over Rising Sexual Crimes
The twin incidents have triggered public outrage and renewed calls for stronger measures to ensure women’s safety in the capital. Civil society groups have demanded swift action and speedy trials in such cases.
Women’s rights activist Kavita Sharma said, “Despite repeated assurances from authorities, women continue to face threats in public and private spaces. There needs to be stricter enforcement of the law and better preventive measures.”
Authorities Appeal for Information
Police have urged the public to come forward with any information related to either case. They have also appealed to party hosts and event organisers to remain vigilant and ensure the safety of guests.
Meanwhile, both victims are receiving medical and psychological support as investigations continue.
