BSNL Offers One-Month Free 4G Service for New Customers

In a festive gesture ahead of Diwali, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has announced a special “Diwali Bonanza Plan”, offering one month of free 4G mobile services to new customers. The state-owned telecom operator said in a statement that the offer will be valid from October 15, 2025, to November 15, 2025. As part of the initiative, BSNL will charge only Re 1 as a token fee for activation, aiming to expand its 4G customer base and provide users with an opportunity to experience its newly deployed indigenous network.


A Festive Push for BSNL’s 4G Network Expansion

BSNL’s latest move comes as part of its efforts to strengthen its market presence and regain customer trust amid growing competition from private telecom players. The Diwali Bonanza Plan has been launched shortly after BSNL rolled out its Make-in-India 4G network, developed in collaboration with domestic technology partners.

According to BSNL Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) A. Robert J. Ravi, the initiative highlights the company’s commitment to the government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat vision. “The Diwali Bonanza Plan — absolutely free of service charges for the first 30 days — gives customers a proud opportunity to experience our indigenously developed 4G network,” Ravi said in the statement.

He added that BSNL’s focus remains on improving network quality, coverage, and customer satisfaction, and the company is confident that the experience will motivate new users to continue beyond the free trial period.


Benefits Under the Diwali Bonanza Plan

The Diwali Bonanza Plan is designed to provide a complete mobile experience at no cost for the first month. Under this plan, new BSNL customers will receive:

  • Unlimited voice calls (subject to plan terms and conditions)

  • 2 GB of high-speed data per day

  • 100 SMS messages per day

  • A free SIM card, with standard Know Your Customer (KYC) verification as per Department of Telecommunications (DoT) norms

The offer is available exclusively for new BSNL customers, and activation can be completed by paying a token Re 1 at any BSNL Customer Service Centre (CSC) between October 15 and November 15, 2025.


How to Avail BSNL’s Diwali Bonanza Offer

To get the Diwali Bonanza Plan, customers need to visit the nearest BSNL Customer Service Centre with valid KYC documents such as Aadhaar or voter ID. Upon completing the KYC process and paying Re 1, users will receive their free SIM card.

After inserting the SIM and following activation instructions, customers can start using unlimited voice, data, and SMS benefits for 30 days from the date of activation.

Positive Market Response Expected

BSNL’s previous promotional offer in August 2025 had led to a significant rise in its subscriber base, with over 1.38 lakh new users joining the network. That surge placed BSNL ahead of Airtel in new customer additions for the month, a notable achievement for the state-run operator.

Industry experts believe the new Diwali offer could further strengthen BSNL’s position, especially in rural and semi-urban areas where the brand continues to hold strong consumer trust. The timing of the offer — during India’s peak festive season — is also expected to attract first-time users and budget-conscious customers.


BSNL’s Growing Role in India’s Telecom Sector

BSNL’s transition to a 4G network marks a crucial step in its modernization drive. Until recently, BSNL was operating primarily on 3G infrastructure. However, following government backing and indigenous technology partnerships, the company has begun deploying state-of-the-art 4G networks across India, with plans to introduce 5G services in the near future.

As per recent data, the total number of telephone subscribers in India rose to 122.45 crore in August 2025, up from 122 crore in July, indicating a growing demand for affordable and reliable telecom services. BSNL’s re-entry into the 4G segment at this stage is expected to increase competition and offer consumers more choices at lower costs.
