Yesterday, two of the aides of Chinmoy Krishna Das were arrested and taken into custody by Bangladeshi authorities. They got arrested while they were bringing meals to the jail for Das. This occurs while Muhammad Yunus’s crimes against minorities, particularly Hindus, continue in the South Asian nation.

Earlier, after massive and continuous protests by members of the ISKCON and Hindu community, the Bangladesh government allowed food for Hindu priest Chinmoy Krishna Prabhu Das. For Chinmoy Krishna Das, a permit was obtained to serve meals cooked by a “Vaishnav” chef. Furthermore, new cutlery was bought for the ISKCON priest. Chinmoy Prabhu reportedly received his prasadam (meal) at 3 p.m. and has been under strict surveillance in a designated cell.

On Thursday night, the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) made it clear that, even though officially Chinmoy Krishna Das does not represent ISKCON in Bangladesh, still they will stand by the Hindu religious leader. This occurs as demonstrations and turmoil have been sparked by the religious leader’s imprisonment, which has strained relations between ISKCON and the Bangladeshi government.
