Chairman of Rajya Sabha, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar stated today that Rule 267 is being weaponised as a mechanism of disruption. As a result, the entire 3 days of the proceedings which are vital for the discussion of the public matter, have been completely wasted. “There should have been a vindication of our oath that we perform our duties as expected”, Chairman said.

He said that question hour is meant for some important discussion. Strongly reacting to the unnecessary chaos created by members, the Chairman said this results in the entire loss of time and the oath they take stating that all duties will be done for the betterment of the people, makes no sense.

He expressed his deep concern that no duties are performed by the honorary members which is a setback in democratic government. A bad example is being set up and the image is tarnished when members deliberately do such things. An appeal was made so that the decorum of the Rajya Sabha should be maintained by one and all.
