Radharamn Das, vice president and spokesperson for International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) Kolkata, on Monday said that the advocate, Ramen Roy defending Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Das is currently struggling for his life. He has been brutally assaulted by “Islamists,” who also looted his home in Bangladesh. Speaking on Roy’s condition, the Spokesperson also said that the lawyer’s condition is serious and is in ICU.
“Please pray for Advocate Ramen Roy. His only ‘fault’ was defending Chinmoy Krishna Prabhu in court. Islamists ransacked his home and brutally attacked him, leaving him in the ICU, fighting for his life.” he posted on X along with a picture of Roy in the ICU. Chinmoy Das has been already detained and court proceedings are in process. As a result, mass agitation is growing worldwide. On the contrary, in spite of maintaining a peaceful atmosphere, the govt. in Bangladesh has proven to be fatal.
Earlier, Saiful Islam Alif, a public prosecutor, was killed. According to police inspector Nurul Alam, who works at Chittagong Medical College Hospital, Alif sustained serious brain injuries. In a state that is already unstable, the news of the lawyer’s passing has increased tensions even more. And now, the Islamists group attack has added fuel to the fire. It illustrates the increasing risk that people who protect religious minority’ rights in Bangladesh face.
