The Haryana government suspended mobile internet and sending of bulk messages in areas surrounding the Shambhu Border in Ambala, Haryana from December 6 to December 9, given farmers’ march. Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Sumita Misra gave the order to do so.

This act is a measure to maintain peace and order in the districts of Ambala. The ban was enforced in 11 districts mainly Dangdehri, Lohgarh, Manakpur, Dadiyana, Bari Ghel, Lhars, Kalu Majra, Devi Nagar, Saddopur, Sultanpur, and Kakru villages of Ambala. Farmers prepare to march to Delhi with a demand for the Minimum Support Price (MSP).

Besides MSP, the farmers demand justice for the victims of the 2021, Lakhimpur Kheri violence. Reinstatement of the Land Acquisition Act 2013, and compensation to the families of farmers who died during the previous agitation in 2020-21.

Meanwhile, the Ambala district administration has already issued an order under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). Section 163 states that an assembly of five or more is restricted in the very area. The deputy commissioner has imposed ban on foot, vehicles or any means of transportation.

All educational organizations are asked to be close. Taking additional preventive measure, a multilayered barricading is already in place at the Shambhu border point Rajpura (Punjab)-Ambala (Haryana) on National Highway-44.

The protest seems to be in rage such that Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher termed the 101 farmers who will begin the march ‘marjeevras’, someone willing to die for a cause.
