Today India slammed Pakistan to put an end to supporting terrorism and take strong action against Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) chief Masood Azhar and asked that he should be brought to justice.

MEA spokesperson Mr. Randhir Jaiswal said that the reports of Masood Azhar’s location in Pakistan have exposed the country’s “duplicity”. Pakistan has consistently denied that the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) chief is in their country. However, if the reports are correct, it would indicate that Pakistan has been harboring Azhar, despite its claims otherwise.

India demands Pakistan must take credible and irreversible action against terrorist groups operating on their soil. India also mentioned that Pakistan’s failure to act against those groups is a major obstacle to peace and stability in their region.

India has been accusing Pakistan of providing refuge to terrorist havens led by Azhar. Jem has been linked to several terrorist attacks in India, like in December 2001, when members of JeM (Army of the Prophet) attacked the Indian parliament.

After the attack, then PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s government amassed an army on the border to confront Pakistan about the attack, which lasted several months. They also had hands in the Pulwama terror attack in 2019.

However, Pakistan claims that they are not feeding JeM, as their leader Azhar now resides in Afghanistan. He is also on India’s most wanted hit list.
