The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, which is chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has approved the opening of 85 new Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) Shivamogga, and 28 new Navodaya Vidyalayas in the uncovered districts of the country in order to accommodate more Central Government employees.
PM Modi said, “We are committed to providing school education to every section of the society in accordance with the National Education Policy. In this regard, our government has approved 28 new Navodaya Vidyalayas across the country. This will expand residential and quality school education on a large scale.”
PM Modi said that the total estimated fund amounts to Rs. 5872.08 crore. There are 1256 functional KVs, including 03 abroad in Moscow, Kathmandu and Tehran respectively. Estimation of one full fledged KV with a capacity of approximately 960 students. Hence, 82560 students would benefit, giving employment to 63 persons. And in addition to 85 new KV, will add 33 new posts, a total of 5,388 direct permanent employment opportunities will be created.
The PM further emphasized on the existence of Kendriya Vidyalayas came in November 1962 to provide educational facilities of uniform standard throughout the country for the children of transferable Central Government/Defence employees under the unit of the Ministry of Education of the Government of India. Nearly every Kendriya Vidyalaya has been classified as a PM Shri school in accordance with the National Education Policy 2020 with CBSE Curriculum.
