Rahul narwekar has been appointed as the speaker of Maharashtra assembly election for the second consecutive time. He is a Bhartiya Janata party’s MLA from the Colaba assembly constituency in Mumbai.
He has been a key figure in Maharashtrian politics as a speaker of legislative assembly by presiding over assembly session, interpreting rules and procedures, deciding on motions and resolutions and representing the assembly in key dealings. His effective leadership has ensured the smooth functioning of the assembly and facilated key legislation.
His political journey started in 1995 when he joined shiv sena party as youth wing spokesperson, after nearly two decades with shiv sena he switched to nationalist congress party in 2014 he contested in lok sabha election in 2014 from maval constituency but failed, in 2019 arwekar joined the BJP and was elected as the MLA from Colaba constituency.
Narwekar’s election as the speaker for the second consecutive time has been seen as his growing influence in maharashtra politics.
