The White House said on Friday that US President Joe Biden is watching the situation in Bangladesh very closely and the interim government of Muhammad Yunus will be held accountable for any violence against the minority community.

White House National Security Communications Advisor John Kirby said that following the ouster of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina after a massive anti-government protest in August. The situation in the country has been difficult since then therefore US is working along with the interim government to ensure law and security.

Protests have also taken place in the US with regard to the situation of minorities in Bangladesh. Peaceful protests and marches have taken place in front of the White House, in Chicago, New York, SFO, Detroit, Houston, and Atlanta urging the government to take steps to ensure the safety of the minority Hindu community in Bangladesh.
