Veteran BJP leader and former Deputy Prime Minister Lal Krishna Advani has been admitted to Apollo Hospital due to deterioration of his health.
The 97-year-old leader is under the observation of Dr Vinit Suri, a senior consultant in the neurology department. His condition is said to be stable by the hospital authorities. The leader has been admitted to the hospital for the second time this year.
Advani being a member of Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh later played a major role in the the inception of Bhartiya Janata Sangh by Shyama Prasad Mukherjee in 1951 by being one of its founding members which later became Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP).
Under his leadership, the BJP transformed from a small party into one of the most significant national parties in 1990. He played a pivotal role in the Ram Janmabhoomi movement and served as the party’s president on multiple occasions.
Additionally, he held three different portfolios as a Union Minister, including serving as the Home Minister from 1998 to 2004 and as the 7th Deputy Prime Minister from 2002 to 2004 during his time in office.
