On Saturday during the winter parliament session Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Hamirpur Anurag Thakur targeted the leader of opposition Rahul Gandhi and said he lacks basic knowledge about the Indian Constitution.
BJP MP Anurag Thakur targeted Rahul Gandhi and said, “those who wave the copy of constitution, don’t even know how many pages are there in the Indian constitution,” Thakur said in Lok Sabha. Replying to Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Eklavya ka angootha’, Anurag Thakur said, “Ye jo angootha kaatne ki baat karte hai inhone Sikhon ke gale kaatne ka kaam kia tha (It is during the Congress rule that the throats of Sikhs were cut).
Anurag Thakur also criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for misrepresenting the Constitution, said, “The Constitution was what brought an end to the Emergency imposed in 1975.”
During the address, Rahul Gandhi, while narrating an incident from the Hindu epic Mahabharata, addressed a 7-year-old “young man” instead of a kid, in reference to Eklavya, leaving the NDA MPs in splits. “Thousands of years ago in a dense forest, a ‘yuva’ (youth) a ‘yuva’ of 6-7 years of age ” he said while narrating the story of Dronacharya and Eklavya.
Union parliamentary affairs minister Kiren Rijiju criticized the Congress, accusing them of attacking the Constitution and altering its very essence.
Speaking in the Lok Sabha during the discussion on the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of India, Rijiju said, “You have attacked the Constitution, you have changed the preamble to the Constitution. You have changed the very soul of the Constitution. Then how can you blame others?”
