Mayawati, the President of the Bahujan Samaj Party, attacked the Congress and the Samajwadi Party on Sunday and claimed that they should not discuss reservations because they conspired to block legislation that would have granted Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes quotas in promotions during the time that the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance was in power.

She also supported the Center’s ‘One Nation One Election’ measures during a news conference, emphasizing that they would cut costs and guarantee the continued continuation of public welfare projects. She called on other parties to back the proposal as well. In order to guard against such manipulation. Mayawati insisted that reservations for SC, ST, and OBC be included to the Constitution’s Ninth Schedule.

“And it would have been preferable if these two parties (Congress and SP) had kept quiet about this matter in Parliament because SP had vehemently opposed the Constitutional Amendment Bill pertaining to reservations in support of SC and ST communities during the Congress Party’s time in power at the Center, with their cooperation.

“This bill was torn and thrown away by SP in the Parliament itself and is still pending in the Parliament,” she said.
