The Congress party and its leader received notices from X on Wednesday, 18 December, for sharing altered video clips of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s speech on Babasaheb Ambedkar in Rajya Sabha. The notices were issued at the request of the Union Home Minister and stated that the shared video violated Indian law.
The controversy started when Congress MPs and leaders shared an altered version of Shah’s speech in Rajya Sabha accusing him of insulting Ambedkar. However, the BJP spoke up in Amit Shah’s defense saying the video was edited and the Congress was twisting facts and misleading people. Shah held a press conference to clarify his part, alleging Congress of launching malicious campaigns against him. After the discussion on the constitution “it established the opposition party in being ‘anti-Ambedkar’ and ‘anti-reservation’.
In its communication to Congress, X mentioned that it strongly believes in the freedom of speech and expression of its users. X stated that they received a notice from the cybercrime coordination center of the Ministry of Home Affairs to remove the shared content by Congress leaders.
