A scuffle broke out outside Parliament today, with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi accusing BJP MPs of physically obstructing and pushing him. Gandhi claimed that he was trying to enter Parliament when BJP members blocked his path, leading to a heated exchange.
Gandhi said, “I was trying to enter the Parliament. But BJP MPs were trying to stop me, pushing me and threatening me. This is Parliament and it is our right to go inside.” However, BJP MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi alleged that Gandhi pushed him, causing a head injury that required medical attention.
The incident occurred amid ongoing protests by both the BJP and the opposition INDIA bloc. The opposition has been demanding an apology from Union Home Minister Amit Shah for his remarks on Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, which they deem derogatory.
Gandhi emphasized that the real issue is the perceived attack on the Constitution and disrespect towards Ambedkar. He also demanded accountability for the incident, citing concerns about the safety of opposition MPs.
The scuffle highlights the escalating tensions between the ruling BJP and the opposition, with both sides engaging in intense sloganeering and protests.
