BJP MP Phangnon Konyak has blamed Rahul Gandhi of making her feel uncomfortable during a protest in Parliament. According to Konyak, Gandhi stood very close to her and shouted, which she felt was unbecoming of the Leader of Opposition.
The incident occurred during parallel protests by the INDIA bloc and NDA regarding Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s remarks on B R Ambedkar. A scuffle broke out suddenly and two BJP MPs got injured.
Konyak sought protection from Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankar and she submitted a notice on the matter. She expressed disappointment and disheartenment over Gandhi’s behavior, stating that no lady member should be made to feel uncomfortable.
Union Minister Kiren Rijiju condemned Gandhi’s actions, demanding an apology from the Congress party for allegedly injuring other MPs and making Konyak feel uncomfortable. Rijiju emphasized that Parliament should not be like a “wrestling ground” and that the Congress party’s behavior was shameful.
