Putin Backs Multipolar World Order, Mentions India and China

Russian President Vladimir Putin at his annual news conference and call-in show claimed not to have met Assad since giving him asylum in Moscow, in his first comments on Assad’s demise. However, Putin said he has plans to meet the former Syrian President.

President Putin stated on Thursday that they are trying to portray everything that is occurring in Syria as a disaster for Russia, but that is not the fact. As Putin fielded questions during his yearly press conference and call-in show on Thursday, he disputed that Moscow’s reputation had suffered as a result of the overthrow of important friend Bashar Assad in Syria.

He demonstrated a broad mastery of everything from consumer prices to military gear during the about four and a half-hour presentation, which was meticulously planned.

He stated that he intends to question him over Austin Tice, a journalist from the United States who vanished in Syria twelve years ago. In response to an inquiry from NBC’s Keir Simmons, who referenced a letter he said Tice’s mother addressed to the Russian leader requesting help, Putin stated, “We can also pose the question to people who control the situation on the ground in Syria.”

“In general, we have achieved our goals, and even those groups that fought at one time with the Assad regime, with government troops, they have also undergone internal changes”, Putin said. “It is not for nothing that today many European countries and the United States want to establish relations with them. If they are terrorist organizations, why are you getting involved? That means they have changed, doesn’t it?” he added.
