The National Commission for Women (NCW) has demanded action against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi after BJP MP Phangnon Konyak accused him of misconduct. Konyak, a Rajya Sabha MP from Nagaland, alleged that Gandhi misbehaved with her in a loud voice during a protest outside Parliament.

According to Konyak, Gandhi’s physical proximity to her made her feel extremely uncomfortable. She has written to the Rajya Sabha Chairman seeking protection and action against Gandhi. The BJP has also filed a police complaint against Gandhi, accusing him of physical assault and incitement.

The incident occurred during a protest by BJP MPs against Congress MPs, who were demanding an apology from Union Home Minister Amit Shah for his remarks about B.R. Ambedkar. The protest turned violent, with several MPs from both parties allegedly involved in a scuffle.

The NCW has taken cognizance of Konyak’s complaint and has sought action against Gandhi. The commission has also asked for a detailed report from the Delhi Police on the incident. The incident has sparked a heated debate, with both parties trading charges and accusing each other of misconduct.
