The Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a two-day visit to Kuwait at the invitation of the Amir of the State of Kuwait, His Highness Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

PM Modi believed this to be a way of strengthening and reinforcing the special ties and bonds of friendship between India and Kuwait. He said, “This visit will deepen India’s historical linkages with Kuwait.” Modi affirmed the historical connection between Kuwait and India which has been nurtured till now to be valuable. He said, “We deeply value the historical connection with Kuwait that has been nurtured over generations.”

Modi would meet with His Highness the Amir, the Crown Prince, and the Prime Minister of Kuwait on this visit. He is optimistic that this visit will create the opportunity to draft a roadmap for future partnerships for the benefit of the people of both countries. He would also be meeting the Indian Diaspora in Kuwait who have played an important role in strengthening the bond between the two countries.

Modi emphasized that India and Kuwait are strong trade and energy partners and also share interests in peace, security, stability, and prosperity in the West Asia region.

He would also be attending the the inauguration ceremony of the Arabian Gulf Cup, a premier sporting event in the Gulf region on the invitation of the leadership of Kuwait. He says, “I look forward to being a part of this celebration of athletic excellence and regional unity.”
