Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, at the opening ceremony of the Arabian Gulf Cup during his two-day visit to Kuwait. PM Modi was received by Kuwait’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence and Interior, Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, along with the country’s Foreign Minister Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya and several other dignitaries.
During his visit, Modi addressed the Indian community in Kuwait at the “Hala Modi” event, where he highlighted the strong bonds between India and Kuwait. He asserted that the relationship between the two nations is one of civilizations, seas, affection, trade, and commerce.
Modi also lauded the Indian diaspora in Kuwait, acknowledging their significant contributions to the country’s development. He expressed gratitude to the Amir of Kuwait for his gracious invitation and emphasized India’s commitment to supporting Indian workers in Kuwait and across the Gulf.
The visit is expected to strengthen bilateral ties between India and Kuwait, with discussions focused on trade, energy, investment, and cultural exchanges. Kuwait is a critical partner for India, ranking as the sixth-largest supplier of crude oil and meeting 3% of India’s energy needs.
