Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is in Kuwait for a historic two-day visit while speaking to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), stated that India and Kuwait have a strong and long-standing relationship. He also stated that the two countries are ready to turn their buyer-seller relationship into a strategic alliance by looking into prospects along the whole oil and gas value chain.
For the first time in more than 40 years, Indian Prime Minister Modi arrived in Kuwait. Modi stated that he is willing to support initiatives that could result in an early return of peace in Gaza and Ukraine and that military conflict resolution is not the answer to such problems.
India and Kuwait have many different connections that stem from history, culture, and respect for one another. Kuwait continues to be one of India’s important trading partners and suppliers of crude due to its longstanding commercial ties. Strengthening economic and interpersonal ties will be the main topic of discussions with Kuwaiti authorities.
In order to overcome disagreements and reach negotiated settlements, he emphasized the significance of genuine and useful involvement between the parties. Modi also reaffirmed India’s support for a two-state solution that is negotiated in order to create a sovereign, independent, and viable state of Palestine within safe and acknowledged borders.
As the third-largest consumer of energy, oil, and LPG worldwide, Modi said there is enormous potential for more cooperation with Kuwait, which is currently India’s sixth-largest supplier of crude and fourth-largest supplier of LPG. According to him, Kuwait has about 6.5% of the world’s oil reserves.
