Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, has blasted the Congress for supposedly disdaining BR Ambedkar and ignoring Dalit and impoverished populations. He charged that Congress had failed to erect memorials in Ambedkar’s honor and had planned his electoral defeat. He emphasized the BJP’s efforts to honor Ambedkar’s legacy by developing the ‘Panchteerth’, a collection of five sacred sites closely tied to Ambedkar’s life, showcasing the party’s commitment to preserving his memory and ideals
Additionally, CM asserted that during the Emergency, Congress added words like “secular” and “socialist” to the Constitution’s Preamble, which he claims were not part of Ambedkar’s original intent. He further claimed that, in contrast to the Congress’ purported legacy of neglect and appeasement tactics, the BJP has continuously sought to improve the lot of Dalits and other underprivileged populations.
His comments were to draw attention to the Congress and other opposition parties’ occasional insults against Baba Saheb, which are both unethical and unconstitutional. Baba Saheb was instrumental in the country’s independence and the drafting of the Constitution. Baba Saheb is regarded with awe and veneration by all Indians.
The nation of Baba Saheb’s vision has been built by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar has received appreciation from the Bharatiya Janata Party, he stated. He praised and emphasized Ambedkar’s important contributions to India’s liberation movement, constitution-making, and the development of an independent India.
He claimed that both current Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee have shown Ambedkar the utmost respect.
He said that Jawaharlal Nehru, the former prime minister, had opposed Ambedkar’s admission to the Constituent Assembly. Additionally, he said that a caricature showing Ambedkar being flogged was put in textbooks during the UPA rule, which he called disrespectful.
