India is mourning the loss of its former Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, who passed away on December 26, 2024, at AIIMS hospital in New Delhi. The Government of India has announced seven days of state mourning from December 26, 2024, to January 1, 2025, as a mark of respect to the departed leader.

During this period, the National flag will be flown at half-mast throughout India, and there will be no official entertainment. The state funeral will be accorded to Dr. Manmohan Singh, and the National flag will also fly half-mast on the day of the funeral in all Indian Missions and High Commissions abroad.

Dr. Manmohan Singh was a renowned economist and statesman who served as India’s Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014. He was credited with introducing economic reforms that transformed India’s economy and lifted millions of people out of poverty.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has paid tribute to Dr. Singh, describing him as a distinguished leader who made extensive efforts to improve people’s lives. The country will observe a state mourning to honor the memory of this exceptional leader.
