Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has lamented the passing of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, calling him “a man of action rather than words” and claiming that his enormous contribution to the development of the country will live on in Indian history forever. He expressed this on social media platform.

He stated that India has lost a visionary politician, an unquestionably honest leader, and an economist of unmatched magnitude with the death of the Former Prime Minister. His economic liberalization and rights-based welfare paradigm policies significantly improved the lives of millions of Indians, essentially establishing a middle class and rescuing millions from poverty.

He further added that after rising through the ranks with unwavering dedication, he mourned the loss of a lifelong senior colleague, a gentle intellectual, and a humble soul who embodied India’s aspirations.” As the Minister of Labor, the Minister of Railways, and the Minister of Social Welfare, he is honored to have served in Manmohan’s Cabinet.

Kharge further said: “A man of action rather than words, his immense contribution to nation-building will forever be etched in the annals of Indian history. In this moment of sorrow, I extend my deepest and heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and countless admirers. May they get the strength to overcome this huge loss. His enduring legacy of ushering in India’s growth, welfare, and policies of inclusivity will forever be cherished. May his soul rest in eternal peace.”

At the age of 92, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, a well-known economist and the driving force behind India’s economic reforms, died on Thursday. After his health worsened, he was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi.
