A tragic bus accident occurred in Punjab’s Bathinda district on Friday 27th December, resulting in the loss of several lives. A private bus carrying approximately 50 passengers veered off a bridge and fell into a drain near Jiwan Singh Wala Village.
According to reports, atleast 5 people are feared to be dead, while over 20 people sustained injuries in the accident. The injured are currently undergoing treatment at Shaheed Bhai Mani Singh Civil Hospital.
Locals quickly rushed to the scene to assist in rescuing the passengers, alongside police and district administration teams. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel were dispatched to aid in the rescue operation.
Authorities noted that tha weather was poor at the time of accident. The India meteorological department issued an orange alert for punjab due to heavy rainfall and thunderstorms.
