AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal, in a speech on Sunday, alleged the Bharatiya Janata Party attempted to temper the electoral process in Delhi. The former Delhi Chief Minister claimed that the BJP has been manipulating voter lists as part of a hidden operation named “Operation Lotus,” which he alleges has been masterminded since December 15.
Kejriwal, in a press conference, stated that the BJP has already admitted its defeat in Delhi. They have no chief ministerial face, no vision, and no credible candidates. To win the upcoming elections at any cost, they are seeking fraudulent methods like manipulating the voter’s list.”
Kejriwal further accused that this operation was crafted to influence the upcoming Delhi state assembly elections.”In my New Delhi assembly constituency, BJP’s ‘Operation Lotus’ has been going on since December 15. In those 15 days, they have submitted applications for the deletion of 5,000 votes and the insertion of 7,500 voters.
He questioned, “Why is there a need to conduct elections if the BJP is going to manipulate approximately 12% of total voters in the assembly? What kind of ‘game’ is going on in the name of election? The remarks follow earlier allegations made by Delhi CM Atishi, who accused BJP leaders of bribing voters in the New Delhi constituency, where Kejriwal is set to contest the 2025 elections.
Atishi accused BJP leader Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma, a former MP from West Delhi, who was caught dispensing money at his official residence and trying to influence voters.
In response to the bribery allegations, a FIR has been filed against Verma at the Barakhamba Police station in New Delhi. The complaint accuses the former Lok Sabha MP of offering bribes to voters to manipulate the result of the election.
