The statement made by Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Lalu Yadav indicating his intention to welcome back Janata Dal (United) (JDU) leader Nitish Kumar in coalition with RJD has caused an uproar in Bihar politics. However, the stance of Nitish Kumar and RJD Chief Tejaswi Yadav varies.

On the occasion of New Year, Lalu Yadav mentioned that the ‘doors are open’ from his side and Kumar should also ‘unbolt his gates’ to facilitate the movement of people on both sides. Adding on Kumar’s breaking away from the coalition with Lalu’s party, Lalu remarked that RJD has forgiven him and emphasized it to be his duty to forgive Kumar.

In a response to the queries of the journalist about the offer made by Lalu, CM Nitish Kumar replied with “Kya bol rahe hain ? Chhodiye na (What are you saying? Leave it)” in an attempt to change the topic and pointing towards his non-affiliation with the offer.

Former JD(U) President Rajiv Ranjan Singh “Lalan” shut down Lalu’s remarks and stated NDA to be strong and JD(U) and NDA to be united.

While Lalu is making an offer for Nitish’s comeback, his son and RJD chief Tejashwi Yadav appear to be completely against Kumar. He has announced that this year would be a ‘goodbye’ year for Nitish Kumar and hinted towards the formation of a new government in Bihar.

He mentioned that Kumar has been in power for more than 20 years and if the land is sown with the same crop for a long time then the soil gets ruined.
