Vice President Shri Dhankhar Inaugurates 27th International Congress of Vedanta, Emphasizes Need to Reconnect with Cultural Roots. In his inaugural address at the 27th International Congress of Vedanta held at Jawaharlal Nehru University, Vice President Shri Dhankhar stressed the importance of reconnecting with India’s cultural roots.

Dhankhar highlighted the significance of Vedanta philosophy in addressing modern challenges and promoting inclusivity, sustainability, and harmonious coexistence. VP Dhankhar criticizes baffling reactions to Hindu and Sanatan references in India as ironic and painful.

Shri Dhankhar expressed concern over the increasing trend of dismissing Vedanta and Sanatani texts as regressive, often due to a lack of understanding and perverted colonial mindsets. He emphasized that Vedanta philosophy offers practical solutions to global challenges, including climate change, digital misinformation, and depleting resources.

The Vice President also underscored the need for dialogue and discussion, stating that “expression and dialogue are quintessential to civility.” He lamented the decline of dialogue and debate in democratic institutions, including Parliament, and encouraged Indians to hold their representatives accountable for promoting constructive discussion.

Shri Dhankhar’s address was part of the three-day 27th International Congress of Vedanta, which brings together scholars, researchers, and philosophers to discuss and deliberate on Vedanta philosophy. The event aims to promote a deeper understanding of Vedanta and its relevance in addressing contemporary challenges.

Other dignitaries present at the event included Prof. Santishree Dhulipudi Pandit, Vice Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University, and Shri Arindam Chakrabarti, Emeritus Professor at the University of Hawaii, USA.
