A powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 7.1 struck Nepal on Tuesday morning, sending tremors across North India, including Delhi-NCR and parts of Bihar.

The earthquake occurred at 6:35 am, with its epicenter located 93 km northeast of Lobuche, near the Nepal-Tibet border, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).

The tremors were strongly felt in Bihar, with residents rushing out of their homes and apartments. However, no damage to property has been reported so far.

Nepal is located in a seismically active zone, where the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates meet, forming the Himalayas and contributing to frequent earthquakes.

Emergency response teams in Nepal and India are closely monitoring the situation, and officials have urged citizens to remain calm and be prepared for potential aftershocks.

According to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS), the quake was recorded at 6:35 AM IST, with its epicenter located at latitude 28.86 degrees North and longitude 87.51 degrees East, at a depth of 10 kilometers.

Two more earthquakes struck the region later in the morning, with magnitudes of 4.7 and 4.9, respectively. The epicenters of these quakes were located near the Nepal-Tibet border.

The earthquake has sparked concerns across the region, with residents and authorities alike bracing for potential aftershocks. The Indian government has assured that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure public safety.
