The politics on Chief Minister’s residence has heated up with Congress candidate from Delhi’s Kalka Ji, Alka Lamba taking a jibe at CM Atishi claiming that the Chief Minister’s residence is not permanent for anyone.
Atishi had earlier alleged that just a day before the announcement of the election schedule, she was served an eviction notice for the Chief Minister’s residence at 6 Flagstaff Road by the Public Works Department (PWD).
She accused the BJP of being behind this and claimed that after she assumed the position of Chief Minister, the national party had thrown her belongings out of the residence.
Lamba refuted Atishi’s claims of being thrown out of the chief minister’s residence. She stressed that the people of Delhi decide who stays in the residence. She emphasised the residence to be temporary just like former CMs Sheila Dikshit and Arvind Kejriwal.
Alka Lamba has been fielded as the Congress candidate from 51- Kalkaji constituency against Atishi from AAP. Following the announcement of candidature from Kalkaji, Lamba declared that she doesn’t believe that she would be contesting against a CM alleging that AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal also considers Atishi as a temporary CM.
Criticizing Atishi for her emotional appeal for the chief minister’s residence, Lamba steered towards the misuse of funds by the AAP government on the residence during the Covid pandemic when the people were struggling for oxygen and beds.
Taking an emotional approach, Lamba underscored the challenges faced by women leaders and advised Atishi to fight the battles of the women struggling in their homes and communities rather than being sentimental about her personal gains and losses.
She further stated to be standing along with Atishi and fighting along with her against Kejriwal’s claim of her to be a temporary CM.
