BJP on Wednesday condemned Delhi CM Atishi for creating “drama” over the allotment of CM residence and contested why she wanted ‘Sheesh Mahal’ when she was allotted a bungalow.

“This bungalow is assigned to Atishi, who is the Chief Minister of the National Capital. I want to ask when this bungalow is assigned to you, then why do you want to live in Sheesh Mahal?” the BJP Delhi President, Virendraa Sachdeva, asked, standing outside Atishi’s residence. He further said, “AB 17, Mathura Road is officially allocated to her and she lives in Kalkaji, so how many residences do you want?”

“When Sheesh Mahal was allotted to you, you did not reply for three months. As per our information, you did not live here. Everyone knows who lives here. If you don’t live in Kalkaji, then who lives there?” he added.

He further alleged the Aam Aadmi Party leaders of trying to deflect attention from allegations of corruption and irregularities in the construction of the “Sheesh Mahal,” the official residence of former CM Arvind Kejriwal.

“The AAP leaders are doing drama and trying to sidetrack attention from the Sheesh corruption and irregularities conducted in the construction of Sheesh Mahal (6, Flagstaff Road, occupied by Arvind Kejriwal as Chief Minister). Why did they not think of showing the Sheesh Mahal earlier and now stressing on a visit when the administration is bound by a model code of conduct?” he said.

This CM residence controversy started when Atishi on Tuesday accused the BJP-led central government of evicting her from the chief minister’s residence by cancelling its allotment.

As per the PWD stated, the cancellation was due to her failure to take possession of the property within the given time limit as mentioned by the rules. The PWD letter was shared by BJP leader Amit Malviya.

Meanwhile, the BJP claimed that “Sheesh Mahal,” the chief minister’s official bungalow, is a central theme of its assembly election campaign. BJP has alleged AAP of sumptuous spending on the property, with Sachdeva claiming that valuable items, including a “golden commode,” were missing after the residence was vacated by Arvind Kejriwal.
