Arvind Kejriwal, Chief of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), on Thursday expressed his concerns over alleged electoral malpractices, particularly aiming at BJP leader Parvesh Verma, and demanded a strict response from the Election Commission (ECI) to ensure the integrity of the election process.
In a press conference, Kejriwal mentioned that the practices adjacent to the elections could subvert the entire process, referring to it as a “big farce.” He emphasised that the Election Commission had guaranteed the AAP that it would take required action to restore the election process to its moral direction. “The EC has assured us that it will take strict measures and bring the process back on the right path,” Kejriwal said.
Kejriwal demanded that Parvesh Verma be disqualified from contesting the upcoming assembly elections. He also recommended that there should be a raid at Verma’s residence to unfold any illegal financial activities. “There should be a raid at his residence to find out how much money he has,” Kejriwal stated, amplifying the tussle between the AAP and the BJP as the election campaign becomes fierce.
In parallel to this, the Left parties in Delhi have come together under the slogan “BJP hatao, Delhi bachao,” focusing on the need to defeat the BJP in the upcoming elections.
Brinda Karat, a member of the CPM, validated that the Left parties would contest six assembly seats, with CPM contesting in the Karawal Nagar and Badarpur constituencies. Karat also condemned the BJP for diminishing Delhi’s autonomy and stressed the Left’s determination to defeat the BJP no matter what.
