Today marked the inauguration of the Gangasagar Mela 2025 at the Outram Ghat transit camp, a significant event that commenced with a heartfelt invocation of blessings from Swami Vivekananda. “The ceremony set a spiritual ambiance for what promises to be a grand celebration, attracting millions of devotees,” said Mamata Banerjee.

CM Banerjee expressed her commitment to making the Gangasagar Mela 2025 a unique and memorable experience for the millions of devotees expected to attend. She emphasized the government’s dedication to ensuring that the event is not only convenient and safe but also environmentally sustainable, reflecting the ethos of the Ma, Mati, Manush.

In a significant step towards environmental sustainability, the Chief Minister also unveiled GRSE Ltd.’s next-generation electric ferry, named ‘Dheu’. This innovative vessel is designed to minimize pollution while ensuring the safety and comfort of passengers, marking a major milestone in eco-friendly transportation.

As preparations continue, the Gangasagar Mela is set to become a landmark event, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of West Bengal while prioritizing the safety and well-being of all participants.

The event was the flagging off of 50 advanced vehicles for the Fire & Emergency Services Department. This fleet includes 25 large-capacity water tenders with a capacity of 5,000 liters and 25 mid-sized water tenders holding 2,500 liters, aimed at bolstering emergency response capabilities during the Mela.

CM Mamata Banerjee was joined by notable figures including Swami Alokananda Maharaj from Belur Math, Shri Tarak Nath Trivedi, President of the Gangasagar Mela Committee, and various dignitaries. Among the attendees were Minister of Fire & Emergency Services Sujit Bose, Kolkata Mayor Firhad Hakim, PHE Minister Pulak Roy, Transport Minister Snehasis Chakraborty, Home Secretary Nandini Chakraborty, CP Manoj Kumar Verma, and Principal Secretary of the Information & Cultural Affairs Department, Santanu Basu.
