A Class 12 student was taken into custody by police on suspicion of threatening many schools in the nation’s capital through mail. The youngster allegedly sent such emails to at least 23 institutions, confirmed the police.

Officials from the Delhi Fire Service stated that on Wednesday, Bluebells School International notified authorities of the threat at 11.40 am, whereas Tagore International School was the first to do so at 11.17 am. Using technical surveillance, police traced the location of one of the students and brought him in for questioning.

According to the police, the email was also sent to many other schools, including Frank Anthony Public School, Delhi Public School in Vasant Vihar and R K Puram, Mothers International School, Modern School, Springdales School, G D Goenka Public School, St. Columba’s School, Salwan Public School, Amity International School, Air Force Bal Bharati, and others.

There were “massive and highly dangerous explosives” on the school grounds, the email said. The student send the emails to other schools apart from his own in a bid to avoid suspicion. The boy sent the threatening emails in order to avoid taking his school examinations, according to the inquiry.

According to DCP South Ankit Chauhan, the accused student acknowledged sending threat emails in the past when being questioned.

This comes days after the police disclosed that their own pupils were the ones who sent the bomb threat emails to at least three Delhi schools. Earlier, in December there have been many instances as such where schools got threats via mail. However, all turned out to be hoax calls.
