The Telugu Film Industry’s Sankranthi box office in 2025 was revealed on January 10th when Shankar and Ram Charan’s Sankranthi commercial extravaganza Game Changer, a political action drama with a large cast of talented Tollywood and Kollywood actors, debuted on screens to favorable reviews. Ram Charan’s film, which coincidentally featured the actor in three distinct roles, was released in three languages globally three years after the release of “RRR.” Game Changer’s release is being celebrated by fans. The film received a range of reviews when it first came out.
Renowned for his big narratives, Shankar directed Game Changer for the first time in Telugu. The film’s magnificent production and narrative framework are hallmarks of his work. Karthik Subbaraj’s plot, which occasionally relies heavily on well-known clichés, skillfully blends action, drama, and social critique.
Ram Charan gave a remarkable performance in two parts, switching between the morally upright Ram Nandan and the savage Appanna with ease. He is the story’s main character and carries the narrative remarkably well. His portrayal of Ram Nandan is full of swagger and style, but what really strikes a chord with the audience is his sincere portrayal of Appanna.
Deepika, played by Kiara Advani, is Ram Nandan’s romantic interest. Her persona calms Ram down and encourages him to enroll in the IAS. Ram and Kiara’s love song seems a little repetitive, even though they light up the screen.
Srikanth’s aggressive portrayal of Bobbili Satyamurthy is surprising. His lively exchanges with Appanna give the story more depth. As Bobbili Mopidevi, SJ Suryah, who is renowned for his unique style and demeanor, gives another strong performance.
Despite its impressive visuals and socially conscious themes, Game Changer has some flaws that lessen its overall impact. With its reliance on well-known themes of love, political corruption, and structural injustice, the story occasionally drifts into predictability. Although occasionally powerful, the didactic tone of the screenplay can come across as overbearing and leaves little opportunity for nuance.
All things considered, Game Changer is a skillfully made commercial movie. For fans of the genre, Shankar’s epic scope, Ram Charan’s outstanding acting, solid supporting parts, and technical mastery make it an engrossing viewing experience.
Naanaa Hyraanaa, one of Game Changer’s expensive songs, was not featured in the New Zealand-shot movie. In the original prints, the team explained, it “has been edited out due to technical challenges encountered during the processing of infrared images.” Trey is working hard to get the music back into the missing content, which will be accessible on January 14.
