In a devastating bus accident occurred in Uttarakhand’s Pauri district yesterday, resulting in the loss of five lives and injury of 17 others.
The bus carrying 22 passengers crashed into a 100-meter-deep gorge near Dahalchori in the Srinagar area. District magistrate Ashish Chauhan confirmed the loss of lives, stating that five people gave in to their injuries. He further added that 10 injured patients are receiving treatment at Srinagar hospital, while 7-8 others are being cared for in Pauri district.
A quick rescue operation was launched with the Pauri district control room alerting the state disaster response force (SDRF), which dispatched a team to the site. With the help of local police and residents, the injured were instantly rushed to hospitals.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed his heartfelt grief, saying, “My thoughts and prayers are with the families of the deceased. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured and assure that all necessary assistance will be provided to those affected”. The authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident.
