Following a ‘breakthrough’ of truce deal on Monday, Israel and Hamas were shown the final form of a ceasefire agreement. According to two Israeli sources, the Palestinian group is expected to free 33 hostages during the first phase of the new plan.
Qatar delivered the text to both sides during negotiations in Doha, which also involved the Prime Minister of Qatar and the Heads of Israel’s Surveillance Services, the Mossad and Shin Bet,
A senior Israeli official told reporters that the majority of the 33 hostages are thought to be alive. The country also anticipates that the mortal remains of the slain prisoners will be released within the first 42-day ceasefire.
US President Joe Biden stated that Washington was “pressing hard” to close this deal. The agreement they have crafted will “free the hostages, halt the fighting, provide security to Israel and allow them to significantly surge humanitarian assistance to the Palestinians who suffered terribly in the war that Hamas started.
Bidens said in empathy that Palestinians have been through hell. Showing sympathy, US President-elect Donald Trump said,”We are very close to getting it done,” who will take office on January 20.
US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan made similar assertions on Monday, stating that there was a “distinct possibility” of an agreement because “pressure is building for Hamas to come to yes.”
