Rakesh Rathore, a Congress MP from Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh, was taken into custody on Thursday in relation to a rape allegation. When Kotwali Nagar police arrived at Rathore’s home to arrest him, he was speaking at a news conference.
This occurs one day after the Allahabad High Court’s Lucknow bench denied Rathore’s request for anticipatory bail. Rathore later told the news agency that he was given two weeks by the high court to appear before the lower court and pursue the legal process. In light of this.
He have surrendered to the police because he had has faith that he will receive justice in both the legal and public courts. “The matter is subjudice before the court, so it will not be correct to speak on it,” he added.
Rathore was given two weeks by the Lucknow bench to turn himself up to the trial court so that he might receive standard bail.
UP police filed a case against him on January 17 after a woman said that Rathore had been sexually abusing her for the previous four years while promising to marry her,
The woman has also given the police phone logs and call details. The survivor’s husband filed a separate complaint against five people on January 22, claiming that Rathore and his son were pressing the family to reach a settlement.
