Bengaluru-based caregiving technology start-up LegUp has successfully raised ₹2 Crores (approximately $250,000) in pre-seed funding from Bluebridge Capital Private Limited.

This funding marks a significant milestone for LegUp, which was founded in May 2024 and had previously operated on a bootstrapped model. The capital will be instrumental in enhancing the company’s technology, product development, and overall growth strategy.

Innovative Caregiving Platform

LegUp has developed a unique platform designed to connect modern families with trusted caregivers, addressing the growing demand for reliable caregiving services. The start-up offers a variety of services, including Japa Nanny, babysitting, and elderly homecare attendants, catering to both baby care and elder care segments.

With over 10,000 rigorously verified and trained caregivers onboard, LegUp is poised to make a significant impact in the caregiving landscape.

Commitment to Caregivers and Families

Co-Founder Ananthu V expressed enthusiasm about the funding, stating, “This is a pivotal milestone in our journey to transform the fragmented caregiving services landscape. We are committed to nurturing a credible caregiving ecosystem across India, empowering families with trusted caregivers while also providing better job opportunities and enhanced job security for caregivers.”

Co-Founders Jerin Mathew and Mahesh Narayanan MS emphasized the importance of empathy and trust in their mission. They noted that the rise of nuclear families in India necessitates a revolutionary approach to caregiving, which LegUp aims to provide through its tech-driven platform.

Strategic Use of Funds

The funds raised will primarily be allocated towards enhancing LegUp’s technological infrastructure and operational capabilities. A substantial portion will also be directed towards the development and launch of two mobile applications, one for customers to book caregiving services directly and another dedicated to caregivers seeking job opportunities and addressing their professional concerns.

Rapid Growth and Market Potential

LegUp is currently experiencing impressive growth, with a month-over-month revenue increase of 40%. The start-up has already assisted over 500 families in navigating their caregiving challenges, showcasing its platform’s transformative potential.

The child care services sector in India is projected to exceed $25 billion in revenue by 2030, while the elderly care market is expected to grow from $7 billion to $50 billion in the same timeframe. This presents a significant opportunity for LegUp to capitalize on the burgeoning caregiving economy.

Future Expansion Plans

Looking ahead, LegUp plans to expand its services into new verticals, including elderly care and concierge services, within the next year. Geographically, the start-up aims to enter major cities such as Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, and Delhi by the end of 2025. LegUp also envisions onboarding over 100,000 caregivers onto its platform while seeking additional funding by the end of the year.

Customer-Centric Approach

LegUp not only facilitates the booking of various caregiver services through its website and upcoming app but also offers a subscription model for families to manage their caregiving needs over time.

The start-up has received consistent praise for its caregiver reliability, post-service support, and transparent communication, setting new benchmarks for service quality in the industry.
