On Saturday, Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal slammed outgoing Delhi chief minister Atishi after she was seen dancing after her victory from the Kalkaji seat in the assembly elections.
This came after Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is being trumped by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Swati Maliwal said on X, “What kind of shameless display is this? The party has lost, all the top leaders have been defeated, and yet Atishi Marlena is celebrating like this??”
She further added, “Atishi should be ashamed. Her party has suffered a huge defeat. All their main leaders have lost. Yet, she did a roadshow to celebrate her win and even danced during it… What is she celebrating? Her party’s loss?”
Meanwhile conceding her party’s defeat on Saturday, Atishi said, “I thank the people of Kalkaji for showing trust in me. We accept the people’s mandate. I have won, but it’s not a time to celebrate—our ‘war’ against the BJP continues.”
The AAP has come down to 22 in the 70-member Delhi assembly from the high of 62, while the BJP ended its nearly three-decade wait in the national capital and won 48 seats.
Swati Maliwal, who has emerged as one of the AAP’s most vocal critics in recent times, also blamed Arvind Kejriwal for the party’s loss in the assembly elections, calling him “arrogant”.
