Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a significant diplomatic journey, visiting France and the United States from February 10 to 12. His trip comes at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron and will focus on critical global issues, including artificial intelligence (AI) and international partnerships.

During his stay in France, Prime Minister Modi will co-chair the AI Action Summit in Paris, a high-profile event that will bring together world leaders and prominent technology CEOs. The summit aims to foster discussions on a collaborative approach to AI technology, emphasizing innovation that serves the public good in an inclusive, secure, and trustworthy manner. This initiative reflects the growing recognition of AI’s potential to transform economies and societies while addressing ethical concerns.

In addition to the summit, the bilateral segment of Modi’s visit will provide an opportunity to assess the progress of the 2047 Horizon Roadmap, a strategic partnership framework between India and France. Modi and President Macron will review the roadmap’s implementation, which aims to strengthen ties across various sectors, including defense, trade, and technology.

The Prime Minister’s itinerary also includes a visit to the historic city of Marseille, where he will inaugurate the first Indian Consulate in France. This consulate is expected to enhance diplomatic relations and provide support to the Indian diaspora in the region. Furthermore, Modi will visit the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) project, a collaborative effort involving multiple countries, including France. The project aims to harness nuclear fusion energy, a clean and sustainable energy source, for global benefit.

As part of his visit, Modi will pay tribute to Indian soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the World Wars at the Mazargues War Cemetery in Marseille. This gesture underscores India’s historical contributions and sacrifices during global conflicts and highlights the importance of remembering those who served.

Following his engagements in France, Prime Minister Modi will travel to the United States for a two-day visit at the invitation of President Donald Trump. This meeting marks their first encounter since Trump’s inauguration in January, and Modi expressed enthusiasm about reconnecting with his American counterpart. The Prime Minister recalled their previous collaboration during Trump’s first term, which focused on building a Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership between India and the U.S.

The upcoming discussions between Modi and Trump are expected to build on the successes of their earlier partnership, with a focus on enhancing cooperation in various sectors, including technology, trade, defense, energy, and supply chain resilience. Both leaders aim to work together for the mutual benefit of their nations and to contribute to a more stable and prosperous global landscape.

Modi’s visit to the U.S. comes at a time when India and the United States are increasingly aligned on several strategic issues, including counterterrorism, climate change, and economic growth. The two countries have also been collaborating on defense initiatives, with recent agreements aimed at strengthening military ties and enhancing regional security.

As the world grapples with complex challenges, including the ongoing impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and geopolitical tensions, Modi’s diplomatic engagements in France and the U.S. are poised to play a crucial role in shaping international cooperation. The Prime Minister’s focus on technology and innovation, particularly in the context of AI, reflects India’s commitment to being at the forefront of global discussions on emerging technologies.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visits to France and the United States represent a significant opportunity to strengthen bilateral ties, address pressing global issues, and promote collaborative efforts for a better future. As he engages with world leaders and industry experts, Modi aims to position India as a key player in the global arena, fostering partnerships that benefit not only the two nations involved but also the international community as a whole.
