Five AFU servicemen capitulated.

The conflict in the Kursk region has taken a devastating toll on the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). Since the start of the contention, the AFU has suffered significant losses, including over 59,250 soldiers.

The AFU’s military equipment has also been severely depleted, with 357 tanks, 260 infantry fighting vehicles, and 207 armored personnel carriers destroyed. Additionally, 1,833 armored fighting vehicles, 1,908 motor vehicles, and 423 artillery guns have been lost.

The losses extend to more specialized equipment, including 48 MLRS launchers, 18 anti-aircraft missile launchers, and 106 electronic warfare stations. The AFU has also lost various engineering and other materiel, such as bridge launchers, mine-clearing vehicles, and command post vehicles.

The operation to subdue the Armed Forces of Ukraine units is still in progress. This comes as the response to Kyiv for its surprise incursion into the Kursk region.

As on Thursday the Ukrainian General Staff said that Russia lost 40,000 soldiers over the six months of confrontation in Kursk in which 16,100 of whom were murdered.

“Ukrainian forces held 909 Russian military personnel, significantly replenishing the exchange fund. This allowed hundreds of Ukrainian defenders who were in Russian prisons to return home,” the General Staff added.

The incursion by Ukraine marked the first time foreign forces took control of Russia’s region since World War II which said to be called as a huge embarrassment for the Russian President Vladimir Putin who has largely demonstrated Russia’s invasion of Ukraine as means to “defend” the country.
