India To Host Next AI Summit: PM Modi

PM Modi hopes AI can accelerate achieving Sustainable Development Goals, making the journey easier and faster.

PM Modi declared that India would be happy to host the next AI Action Summit during his two-day visit, during which he co-chaired an action summit on AI with French President Emmanuel Macron and held a bilateral meeting with him to deepen the strategic partnership between the two nations.

He applauded France’s efforts to hold the AI action summit. In a post on X, he expressed his hope for a successful summit. He said, The AI Action Summit in Paris is a commendable effort to bring together world leaders, policymakers, thinkers, innovators, and youngsters to have meaningful conversations around AI.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered the inaugural address of the AI Action Summit in Paris, where he marked “AI” as “writing the code for humanity in this century.” He further voiced, “Need for collective global efforts to establish governance and standards that uphold our shared values, address risks, and build trust,” he said.

He further underlined the governance role is not only about threat mediation and warfare; it also includes fostering innovation and global good.

PM Modi also highlighted AI’s role in transforming millions of lives by “improving health, education, agriculture, and so much more.”

He also expressed his hope that AI can assist in “creating a world in which Sustainable Development Goals become easier and faster.”

French President Emmanuel Macron, EU Commission President Ursula Von Der Leyen, and UN Chief Antonio Guterres were other dignitaries present at the event.

PM Modi will also hold bilateral talks to strengthen the strategic partnership with France. In Marseille, he will inaugurate the first Indian consulate in France and visit the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER), a multinational project for clean energy.

He will also pay tribute to Indian soldiers who sacrificed their lives in World Wars I and II at Mazargues War Cemetery. Following his visit to France, PM Modi will travel to the United States at the invitation of President Donald Trump.
